Snoop Dogg took to Instagram to call out the Grammys for snubbing him again, after Tha Doggfather on February 6 who vents his frustration with the Recording Academy for having never granted him a golden trophy throughout his 30-year career.
Snoop Dogg reminded his fans he has yet to join that famed list having received ''exactly'' zero Grammys, despite being nominated a dozen times over his legendary career.
“Snoop Dogg. 20 nominations. 0 wins,” he noted.
The Long Beach native rapper has been nominated in many Grammys categories including Best Rap Solo Performance (“Gin and Juice,” 1995), Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (“Beautiful,” 2004), and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group ( ” Still D.R.E.,” 2000), Best Rap Song (“Drop It Like It’s Hot,” 2005).
He has also made two nods in the coveted Album of the Year category thanks to his grants to Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly and Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream, while his Reincarnated LP was selected for Best Reggae Album in 2014(it was dropped under the name Snoop Lion).
Snoop Dogg is on top of the list of rappers with the most nominations and zero wins, a list that has other rap icons such as aBiggie, 2Pac, Nicki Minaj, Busta Rhymes, DMX, Rick Ross, and Pusha T.
Nas was also on the list until 2021 when he hooked his first Grammy when his ''King’s Disease'' won Best Rap Album.
Snoop Dogg is not the first rap artist to blame the Recording Academy. JAY-Z, the other legend with many nominations and zero wins has been one of the most vocal critics, going as far as shouting them out on his 2018 track “Apeshit” after his 4:44 album went home empty-handed at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
“Tell the Grammy’s fuck that 0 for eight shit,”
