Q.what home town are u repping?
A.Its hard to wholeheartedly represent a geographic location as I've spent most of my life moving around. I was Born in winnipeg. But I was built in Toronto. Most of the experiences that have made me who I am happened here so this is where I feel that my heart is.
Q. What are some of your influences?
A. Truthfully that's a tough question to answer but i know I can say with certainty that Ive always taken an interest in what stands out from the crowd. I havent ever really been interested in normalcy or accepting truth blindly. Nor have I ever found comfort in trying to fit in. So in regards to where I am in my life now id have to say one of the most influential artists for me is vinnie paz! When it comes to growing up I was always drawn to old school and of course anything with passionate lyricism or storytelling, I mean like Big L, Biggie, jadakiss, styles P, AZ, Nas. but mostly what inspires the right questions!
Q.what have been some of your biggest accomplishments as an artist so far?
A. Well... 2 wings of the same bird will be my debut album as Kody Kayy.. the streets know me as krome. And I've done some work under that name as well as kayy forty, but honestly I havent done much as an artist looking to make this my career path until now.
Q.what are some of the accomplishments you are aiming for in the future?
A.for me this is about alot more than what money or clout could ever offer... I guess you could say, mostly its about being heard and understood. Potentially by people similar to me that have struggled or are still struggling with some of the same situations or Demons that I've myself overcome! Maybe being able to relate to, and help them in some way. For me that would make this all worth it! And that would deff make me feel accomplished.
Q. Tell us about your most recent release. What is it about? What is the message you are conveying through your music?
A. Well for me sick plan is about the battle between light and dark. The 3 influences that every person has; Mind, body and soul. Good, bad and then us and our ability to choose which to follow. I guess the message I'm trying to convey is to think for yourself! And to never be afraid to stand up for what u believe to be right even if it means going against the crowd! I mean like when u think about it you could either spend the little bit of time you have on this planet making things better or worse so why spend it suffering or causing others to suffer? Right?
Q. How long have you been in the game?
A.my dad is an old school hip hop head so he has had me rhyming since I was like 10. I mean we had the whole analog setup that was 6 or 7 feet tall. As long as I can remember he was teaching me about the game wether it be music or just real life in general. He taught me how to count bars and spit on beat. We used to record together all the time i mean he still has tracks we did together probably from before I even hit puberty.
Q.whats your message to your fans?
A. If I had to choose one. I'd probably say just really to think for yourself And not to be like everyone else just because it's easy or it's cool at the time. Dont be the echo be the one screaming!
